bluecanary   13 #1 Posted May 4, 2018 I have a mid-2011 11inch Mac running OS X El Capitan.  Recently, it has become a little unpredictable when plugged in to the charger and now it won't charge at all. My battery is fast heading towards empty as I type!  The charger is a replacement mag one, not genuine Apple but has been used without problems for a couple of years now. I am pretty sure that isn't the charger that is the problem.  Anyone have any ideas, or recommend a Mac specialist/repair place near S6/S10 that could take a look? Not bothered about going to Apple Stiore as the machine's a bit old to worry about warranty. Just not ready to day goodbye to it just yet! I bought a non apple charger which worked for a couple of days and then failed. My daughter gave me an apple charger..no problems
 Share this content via...
tzijlstra   11 #3 Posted May 5, 2018 Yeah, I'd suggest getting your hands on a proper charger, very likely your unit is simply dying. I'd give you one of my spares, but have just had a major clear-out and recycled the lot.
 Share this content via...

AlexAtkin   10 #6 Posted May 12, 2018 That's lucky, as MacBooks seem to be very prone to water damage breaking the management circuit/chip. Hopefully you get many more years out of it with no problems.
 Share this content via...
