It's NOT illegal. This has now been very clearly established. Stop repeating it.

I'd be interested to see how you'd stop my cameras pointing across the street. Break in (on camera)? Smash my windows (on camera)? Magic?

My camera points down my drive that is long enough for 4 cars and not at the guys door directly but the door can be seen in the corner view so exactly what am I doing that is illegal?

there are ways and mean of putting a stop to things belive me and if my privacy was been invaded by cameras on someones property one way or another it would change and would fully accept the consequences as i dont care ! Lol

So you're happy to tell people online what's illegal and isn't. And at the same time talk about "ways and means" of forcing people to change their behaviour. You realise that any "ways and means" that you aren't prepared to actually describe probably are really illegal, unlike having cameras.
How amusing that you don't care about accepting the consequences but wouldn't challenge what the police told you about some cameras.
You talk the big talk, when it's just typing on a forum.

The threats, sniping, bickering and arguing is to stop. Otherwise people will be getting suspended.

Swann are rebranded Hikvision products anyway so if Swann are rubbish then so are Hikvision = http://www.vueville.com/home-securit...ra-2015-guide/
I don't pay anything for my remote viewing either and an 8 channel 2TB nvr with 4 cameras that record audio as well for 450 is good IMO.

I use multiple slightly older versions of this camera.
Mostly in the house pointing out, and ftp'ing to my NAS when they detect movement.

I am sorry for as it seems giving you bad advice on my experiences with the system i fitted. I seem to have been wrongly advised/spoken to by the police, i genuinely was trying to offer advice by people who i trust to know the law and dont question a police officer and why should i ? The officers i spoke to seemed to knoe ther stuff and advised me on what i can and cannot do, i have been slated for what i have said snd dont react well when people try to belittle me as its againts everything i have ever known. I appologise if i have offended anyone but at the end of the day it was genuinely credited advice that was wrong.

Thanks starlc

Has anyone used the Maplins CCTV installation service? Were you pleased with the job?

Does anyone have recommendations for installers based in Sheffield/South Yorkshire? Thanks.

Hi

Looking for some advice in the way of CCTV.
Basically I want to put some up around my property. There's quite a few options online and not sure which to go for.
A lot of the CCTV packages don't come with a hard drive and I'm also unsure what size hard drive I would need.

Any advice would be awesome! Thank you!

I bought an ankke which came out pretty well on test and reviews, it has POE which means the cameras are powered by the Ethernet cable from the stand alone hard drive.
The recorder just loops every month, which means it records over itself.
I have 4 cameras set up,they provide everything, you can even get the app for free and watch on your phone from anywhere. Its 1080p and has black and white infra red at nights. Quality of cameras are great. Date, times on video too.
Cost was about 145:00,dead easy to set up.
Its been working now for over a year with no issues what so ever. A great buy.
Hope this helps

Hi

Can anyone recommend a cctv specialist to come out and do a quote?

Over the end of last week have had 2 precious bikes and tools stolen.

Ideally want to get something sorted asap.

I also need someone to make repairs to a security gate etc..

Thanks in advance.

I've just bought a Nest cam outdoor as my car was recently broken into. Super easy to install and no wiring (other than the power cable).

Provided you have reliable WiFi in range then this is a decent solution, the 8 pm charge to access the full functionality is a little steep, but what price can you put on safety hey....?
