Sheffield Parkway road surface

Recommended Posts

Last Friday I drove on the Parkway from the M1 up to the Prince of Wales Road exit. The state of the road from the turnoff to Morrisons up to just before the turn off to Handsworth is terrible. Is the Parkway part of the councils streets ahead project or is it the Highways Department that is responsible for the maintenance of the road. You would think that one of the main routes into the city would be well maintained with a nice smooth surface.

The area of road you describe is split between two different council areas.

Is it Rotherhams responsibility to the Handsworth turn off from the M1? Whoever is responsible for it, it is a busy dual carriageway and should have a decent surface.

Rotherhams responsibility is as far as the Handsworth turn off, is that from the M1?

Well it would be on both sides, one assumes.

It's always nice to create a good 'Welcome to Sheffield' first impression

It's the equivalent of a 'Made in Britain' label on manufactured goods in the 70s

Attercliffe Road from Meadowhalll into the city is almost undrivable now. Not sure what Amey are doing with all the cash for this. Funnily enough, Barnsley's resurfacing project is well under way, with many roads already done.

The problem is that the road up to that sign (heading from the M1) is, presumably from earlier posts, Rotherham's responsibility

Plans are being progressed to both widen the road and improve the M1 junction, there are also plans for a service station at J33, so eventually it should all look a lot nicer and flow a lot better.

I thought the new MSA was going up at J35? Or did the tree huggers get their way in the end?
