Have you looked around any rescues. We don’t have any pups in our rescue at the moment, and as you specifically want a German shepherd have you looked at German shepherd Rescue Elite?

Please adopt don’t buy.

Bambi2356 - there are currently six litters listed in the Yorkshire and Humberside regions of the Kennel Club Puppy Finder.

If you are experienced with the breed you will know that GSDs are prone to genetic disease, particularly hip dysplasia so do some research first. Before you buy a puppy, make absolutely certain that the sire and dam have had all the important screening tests and that the breeder is experienced. You might have to pay more for your puppy but it could save you a lot of expense and heartache in the future.

Its also important you know the temperament of the dog. We searched ages for our first pup as we didn't want one from a breeder with a history of nervous aggressive dogs.

Reputable breeders weren't too keen on letting someone have a Shepherd when they hadn't owned a dog before. Luckily we had friends who trained dogs and specifically an interest in Shepherds and they persuaded someone to let us buy one. A good breeder will offer to take a dog back if you change your mind. They kept ours another month longer as we didn't want to leave it in kennels a fortnight after getting it. You can tell a caring breeder when they are willing to do things like this.

There are quite a few diseases, can't remember them all now.

A show line dog was our first dog, they are much less demanding than working line dogs. They are much more willing to learn the basic commands and obey without pushing the boundaries all the time.

Sorry if you know all this. I had presumed you are not experienced otherwise you would have a circle of people who know breeders and trainers.
