It's been on the cards for a while, went past the point of no return when they couldn't get credit insurance for buying their stock. Administration was delayed over the weekend because of a rent bill (need to pay for access to ft.com for the full article).

Same company as Game, and they're in dire straits as well.

Shame, they were good at one time, apart from their employmen policy, I've applied to work for them twice, and both times they didn't even acknowledge my application!:loopy:

If they ever close the shops in Meadowhall I'll boycott Meadowhall in protest, close one of them if they must but not both, especially if Gamestation goes, I'm not paying Curry's/PC World's inflated prices for games, and Smiths don't have any games in.

Thank God for Amazon/Play.com/eBay, although I suspect those sites are partly to blame for Game/Gamestation's demise.

Surely you saw this recent thread? ;)

Are you familiar with administration proceedings/procedures, Rich? It's not like they have any choice in the matter.

And do you have any idea what the unit rates are like in M'hall? (rethorical question, don't answer - I know them very well myself)

Grainger Games must be rubbing their hands. Probably CeX too.

There's no blame to lay, as such.

But if some must, then lay it with the Game Group for failing to adapt to (obvious-as-the-nose-on-one's-face) market developments.

They probably wont close all the shops straight away, they'll still need to sell their existing stock to pay something to their creditors. There's talk of a possible buyout too.
