Wednesday Chat #3 - Discuss the Owls here

Recommended Posts

Just heard Poll is the ref on Sunday :help:

taken from vitalfootball:

Wednesday are set to get England's Graham 'Three Cards' Poll at Hillsborough on Sunday to officiate in the FA Cup Third Round clash with Stuart Pearce's Manchester City.

Poll, known as the 'Thing from Tring', was acknowledged worldwide for his antics in the 2006 World Cup clash between Australia and Croatia where he booked the same Croatia player three times before infamously sending him off at the third attempt.

And now he is set to take to the Hillsborough turf for the first time since the incident to take control of proceedings as Brian Laws looks to get one over on his former Nottingham Forest team-mate, Stuart Pearce, and take Wednesday through to the next round of the prestigious competition.

Despite his faults on the world stage, Poll is still regarded as one of the top officials in the English game and will continue to referee in high profile games in the Premiership and English cup competitions, as well as in European matches.

The man in black is also famous among Owls fans for his public falling out with Blades boss Neil Warnock - hopefully Poll will be liked in the blue and white half of Sheffield come Sunday afternoon.

This may be a bit of a naive question but why did he fall out with Colin (apart from the obvious fact that he is a human stain)?

Think it was to do with a cup game vs Arsenal which Poll refereed. Poll made a mistake which led to Arsenal scoring. Colin made a few remarks that didn't go unnoticed by th FA

That and the fact that Poll is a Grade 1 t**t. You're right; it was the match at Old Trafford where he ignored the Chief being prostrate on the edge of our area, barged into Tonge, stopping him from collecting a simple ball in the resulting breakaway, leading to Arse-nil scoring within about 10 seconds.

He's still not very popular in S2.

Would be great if something does come of it but until it's a done deal it's not worth speculating.

I hadn't started! You lot should have a decent game on Sunday. How we lost to them was criminal as they are truly awful. We should have had 4 points at least from them this season and we got one.

About right :(

You've nothing to fear from them. Good luck!
