Cream Bun   10 #1 Posted January 31, 2014 Hello, My son's PS3 has now given up the ghost and died. I am considering buying a new/reconditioned one. However he wants to transfer all the game data that has been saved on the old one.  I know that this can be done with a memory stick. However the problem with the old one is that it wont power up. As soon as the power is switched on it goes off straight away. (It has already been repaired for YLOD a couple of years ago) This, I believe makes the transfer impossible.  Any ideas how to get round this?  Thanks
 Share this content via...
denomis   10 #2 Posted January 31, 2014 Remove hard drive on new ps3 Insert old hard drive in new ps3 Transfer data etc to external drive Swap hard drives back Transfer from external drive to new hard drive in ps3.  Swapping the drives out is really easy on ps3, just remove the plastic cover unscrew the 1 screw, slide caddy out then it's 4 screws to take the hd out of the caddy.
