slh73   32 #1 Posted October 1, 2018 Beer lists are up, anyone going? I'll be there on Wednesday, looking at that, I'll probably spend most of the night in the keg bar  https://sheffield.camra.org.uk/festival/keg/
 Share this content via...
belperite   11 #2 Posted October 1, 2018 That surely has to be one of the best keg lists in the country for an official CAMRA festival. If I go I'll be enjoying both keg and cask
 Share this content via...

Andy C   85 #6 Posted October 3, 2018 (edited) Only a week away now so here is more info....  SHEFFIELD CAMRA'S 44TH ANNUAL STEEL CITY BEER & CIDER FESTIVAL - over 250 different beers on cask, keykeg, can and bottle including some gluten free and vegan options - 48 different ciders and perries - traditional pub games - live music - street food - CAMRA book stall - CAMRA membership & information stand  The venue is the atmospheric Kelham Island Industrial Museum with bars spread across the upper hall, Brearley Room, Millowners Arms and marquee with hot food stalls in the Victorian courtyard. The steam powered river Don beam engine will also be fired up at set times over the week.  The museum is surrounded by many great pubs and bars to explore after the festival. It is easy to get to - 5 minutes walk from Shalesmoor tram stop (Blue or Yellow tram routes) or there are bus stops on Nursery Street and Gibralter Street. Alternatively it is walkable from the City Centre.  Opening hours and admissions:  Wednesday 10th October - open 5pm-11pm. Free entry. Thursday 11th October - open 12pm-11pm. Entry £2 (free for CAMRA members) Friday 12th October - open 12pm-11pm. Entry £3 before 5pm, £5 after 5pm (£1/£2 for CAMRA members). Saturday 13th October - open 11am-10pm. Entry £3 (£1 for CAMRA members).  In addition to the entry fee, you will need a festival branded glass costing £2. If you do not wish to keep it you can return the glass on exit and get the deposit refunded. Printed programmes are available for 50p a copy.  Note Friday night gets very busy and the venue hits capacity early evening at which point a one in one out system applies, we advise arriving early to avoid queuing.  Also note card payments cannot be taken at the festival, just cash. Nearest ATM is at Tesco Express at the end of Alma Street.  Friday night is also fancy dress night, this years theme is totally 1980s.  Live entertainment programme: Thursday 8pm - The Steve French Band Friday 6:30pm - James Taplin & Mick Holmes Friday 9pm - Highway Child Saturday 1:30pm - Kelham Island Rapper Saturday 2pm - Loxley Silver Band Saturday 3:30pm -Kelham Island Rapper Saturday 4pm - James Taplin & Mick Holmes Saturday 6pm - Gamsu Rhythm & Blues Revue  All the beers that are ready to serve go on sale when the festival opens on Wednesday night and once they are gone they are gone, therefore please be aware that the final day of the festival on Saturday it is likely to be a reduced range, however there should still be a reasonable choice.  Festival website - http://www.steelcitybeerfestival.co.uk  The beer and cider lists aren't linked on the main website yet (there are some typos and TBCs to sort out) but you can get a sneak preview at http://www.sheffield.camra.org.uk/festival/cask http://www.sheffield.camra.org.uk/festival/keg http://www.sheffield.camra.org.uk/festival/cider Edited October 3, 2018 by Andy C
 Share this content via...
