Recommended Posts

Birmingham Royal Ballet is renowned for its exciting mix of the classics and daring and innovative ballets. Led by Director David Bintley and accompanied by the world renowned Royal Ballet Sinfonia, this talented company return to Sheffield Theatres with an evening that features three contrasting works, demonstrating the skill and versatility of this talented company.

Galanteries

A melding of beautiful, unpretentious music and dance, the classical perfection of Mozart's music is mirrored in David Bintley's elegant choreography.

The Dance House

Taking inspiration from a medieval poem and woodcut depicting the 'Danse Macabre', Bintley's second piece in the programme is an exquisite elegy prompted by the early death of a dancer friend.

Elite Syncopations

A vibrant ragtime band plays old favourites from Scott Joplin and others, as dancers in brightly coloured costumes gather for a dance competition. Each competitor takes their turn and performs a series of dazzling, witty and touching sketches. One of Kenneth MacMillan's best-loved creations, Elite Syncopations is certain to finish the evening on a high.
