Manor Lane School

I went to Manor Lane School 1948-51, though I lived on Talbot Place, a tram ride away. My grandmother lived on Dovercourt Rd.

I went to Manor Lane School in the late 1950's. I remember Miss Smedley and Mrs Walton as infant teachers. The headmistress was Mrs Swift. I used to walk over Manor Lane from Harborough Avenue, past Billies shop next to the Manor Castle pub. As kids we would climb the ruins of the Manor Castle. During the winter months my sister and I got a lift from Vivian and Martin Barns Father who lived on Manor Farm.
