Ukip. All discussion here please.

It’s a little choice really. Robinson is a little man with a small, but shouty following.

UKIP seem to be trying to set the record for being the smallest UK political party, ever.

They sort of deserve each other, but I’d imagine that even UKIP have some standards, so Tommy will still be out in the cold.

You will find that tommy robinson has a large following by saying he hasn't doesn't reduce it. I can't see him in a political role though.

It depends how you define following.

The petition to release Wee Tommy gathered a couple of hundred thousand signatures, but the protests organised by the Free Tommy campaign only attracted more than a thousand people on a couple of high profile occasions and normally can't attract more than a couple of hundred if that!

The far right in 2018 exists more as a group of facebook likes and Twitter followers sharing fake news than any kind of real political organisation.

He’s got a minuscule following, compared to proper politicians.

A few scruffs and emotionally stunted racists... plus the odd bovver boy.

But shouldnt be overlooked,

Agreed.

You should never take your eyes off fascism but neither should you fear it or give it strength it doesn't have. The Brexit vote should have given it a massive shot in the arm but the far right in the UK has always had a unnatural talent for infighting, backstabbing and very poor organisation. More far right groups here have split over leaders stealing party funds or who is sleeping with who's wife than any political disagreements. Even Britain First which rose out of the ashes of the BNP is falling apart with the two leaders grassing each other up to avoid jail sentences, and now there are all sorts of rape allegations being made within the leadership and former leadership.

I don't play down the terrorist element of the far right but it is a tiny fringe and you can bet that there are as many police informers among their number as 'true patriots'! :D

Like those very same politicians use ?

Yes, but then I haven't watched PMQs and heard Jeremy refer to Boris as BoJo the Clown, Theresa as Maybot or any other nickname. And the reverse, not heard Theresa shout across the table to Jezza.

Why?

We've already tried that, several times already.

BoJo the Clown split the Tory party and stuck his willy where he shouldn't.

Sir Nige' split the country and stuck his willy where he shouldn't.

The Trumpet split the Republican Party and stuck his willy where he shouldn't.

I personally think it's time for less shouty-shouty politics by liars and adulterers and time for more sensible, intelligent politics.

I can see why you're struggling.

Actually they do, and they manage to do it without breaking the law.

How many times has Wee Tommy Robinson been jailed ?

You once questioned what I bring to the forum . What do you bring ,apart from silly posts ?

your habit of diverting threads is . . . tiresome, as is your refusal to answer direct questions.

I've never said that you were far right.

In answer to your question, the reasons are complex but I would say that it was a combination of post 2008 recession austerity which surprise surprise hits the poorest hardest and the refugee crisis in North Africa and the Middle East where many refugees headed for Northern Europe. Add more mouths to feed to an already struggling indigenous population and the conditions are right for mischief makers to stir the pot of racial hatred and blame the immigrants for all society's woes. It worked a treat for Hitler in 1933.

I say that the reasons are complex because when the far right coalition in Italy started refusing landing to refugee boats in the Med, the boats started being diverted to Spain where they have been by and large welcomed despite Spain being a fascist dictatorship for 40 years.

Refugee numbers are now a fraction of what they were three or four years ago so I would say that the far right has pretty much reached saturation point now. Everyone predicted the Swedish Democrats busting the 20% mark last week but in the end they struggled to hit 17% I believe it was. Remember the BNP polled a million votes in 2010 and UKIP topped the poll in the last Euro elections. Where are they now? Nowhere.

Shouty slogans and **** stirring win people votes but in the long run it offers them nothing and people are canny enough to see that.
