Wifi network / Virginmedia

If I look at the wifi networks my iPhone can 'see' there are a number of my neighbours' networks plus the one I use (which is called VMxxxxx (where the xs are digits) and another just called Virgin Media.

If I click on this last one, it tells me the username is vmedwifi/myusername@blueyonder.co.uk

What is this network - why is it there? (If it helps, I've been with VM for years, and my email address is a blueyonder one, not virginmedia).

Virgin media have had a system in for a while where if you're a Virgin customer, you can use any available Virgin WiFi network while you're out and about...

The easiest way is to download the Virgin WiFi app on your phone, this gives you a map, shows the best places etc, and auto has configuring

The "Virgin Media" SSID is coming from your hub. This lets the public login into the Virgin network via your router with their Virgin login details.

The only way to disable it is to call Virgin and get them to do it remotely. I did this with my hub.

No I don’t think so, I’m on the 3 network but I can still use the vm WiFi app....
