Soundscapes   10 #1 Posted September 7, 2009 (edited) Echoes of Blackburn Meadows sonic art-walk goes live on Friday 25th September 2009  Spoken memories from former workers of the power station, along with the sounds of electrical production, will be broadcast from a hidden solar powered transmitter via an FM frequency. The transmitter has been hidden somewhere along the towpath of the Tinsley canal, close to where the power station and its famed cooling towers once stood.  We're holding workshops on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September in the Sheffield Showcase Office, 106 Pinstone Street. We'll be getting you to build your own FM radio receivers with which to access the artwork. Just drop in at any time between 10am and 4pm. No booking necessary.  Participant toolkits, which contain a map, an FM radio receiver and a pair of headphones, will be available from Sheffield Central Library. Mobile phones with FM radios can also tune in.   Information on how to find the artwork, as well an overview of the history of the former Blackburn Meadows power station, will be available soon at sheffieldelectricity.com(currently under major reconstruction!)  Echoes of Blackburn Meadows is FREE event funded by Arts Council England Edited September 15, 2009 by Soundscapes
 Share this content via...
