tiggerboo   10 #1 Posted June 4, 2014 During the AGM this year, we mentioned the fact that we would like to raise some money for charity like it was done in the past.  We are still deciding on how this could be done (any ideas are welcome).  However we would like to put it up to you, players, to choose/nominate a local charity close to your heart maybe.  In the next few weeks, please put your nominations on this thread. If we have a few suggestions then we will have a quick poll to help select one or two.  You can also talk to a member of the committee on club nights.  We will gather all the suggestions before making a choice.  Thanks
 Share this content via...

AmIWill   10 #3 Posted July 20, 2014 What about local charities? Such as:  - Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind* - The Children's Hospital Charity - Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity  As for fundraising ideas: - Badmintonathon Part 2. It's been almost 3 years since the first one and 30 hours is now the time to beat/meet. - Another record to beat is the most participants in a badminton rally, currently stands at 113. - Badminton Crawl (Crawlminton?). Like a pub crawl, the most venues played in 24 hours (can even be a simultaneous record). - Sponsorships ** - SFBC vs. competition (think of Corporate Games - playing against local teams and/or businesses) - Auction off member services  Non-badminton related but community events: - Charity Ball - Quiz night (playing on our social side) - Poker tournament - Table top/car boot sale - Video games day/night (sports, dancing, singing, fighting games, etc., etc.) - Cakes stall - Coffee mornings - Raffle (donated prizes from local businesses) - Individual activities (usual stuff - abseiling/marathon/sky diving/eating)  I suppose a lot of this depends on the target amount and when (and where) the main fundraising event takes place but just a few ideas to get going.  Kind regards, Will  * Note not to be confused with the RNIB. ** There's a variety of areas this covers, expand another time.
