How to find Navy service records of wwII

Recommended Posts

Hoping for a bit of help on this one. Been wanting to find out a bit of history and what ships my grandad was crew on during the second world war. Unfortunately as he is no longer with us I can not ask and I am unable to find even his service number or how I would get his record. If anybody has any experience or ideas for me they would be gratefully received. :help:

I've tried many times to find my dad's ex shipmates and info over the years whilst he was still alive, now it's too late unfortunately. The only things I have are what he himself saved from his navy service. If you want old photos Wright & Logan were the best, I think their stock is now Part of the RN museum in Portsmouth.
