This rain is the wettest from the standpoint of water for quite a while.

I'm sure it said on the radio earlier that it was the first significant rainfall we've had since the snow in March

At times it felt like the deluge we had in the 2007 flood, fairly sure that if this had hit shortly after the dry spell of the summer things would have been a lot worse, fortunately the soil was already hydrated.

Would have thought the drains/ gulleys could've been cleaned during the long hot summer but what do I know ?

I did see them cleaning the drains out in our area in the hot weather, first time in 20+ years.

You really should have taken a photo of that for posterity. Around our way when they finally cut the verges , the hay was left in the roadside covering drains for months . Bet it was special rain causing the flooding :loopy:

No - it was the Don bursting its banks.

Now, where do you think that the water that goes down the drain ends up?

What , on Norfolk park , Dyke vale road etc . The don must really be in flood if its affected those areas  Nothing to add then ?
