#TonysWobblyWalk for Multiple Sclerosis - MS Therapy Centre South York

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

Apologies - I'm new to Sheffield Forum but wanted to try and share my dad's story with you.

Bit of background - my Dad is 49 and currently walking from John O Groats to Lands End unaided and has Multiple Sclerosis. His brother (my Uncle) also has MS since his late 30's. Dad has little feeling in his ankles and is in the first stage of MS, he probably wouldn’t be able to do this walk next year. My Uncle has Aggressive MS and cannot walk at all.

Dad decided to raise money for the MS Therapy Centre, Sheffield and Rotherham who help MS suffers everyday. Dad’s target is £10K and we’re currently just over £5,840.00

August 2013, Dad was having a pretty tough time of it, things weren't going quite as well as he would have liked. He was then put back in touch with his childhood sweetheart Tina. They started dating straight away, before long they were in love. But the terrible twist was that not long after their happy reunion Tina was diagnosed with cancer.

They got engaged in May 2014 and to make things even better just a few months later Tina got the all clear! They decided to book their wedding for June 2015.

Later that year (2014) they got the awful news that Tina's cancer had returned - she had a colostomy bag fitted but the cancer had spread. Tina showed an immense amount of determination throughout the months leading up to their wedding.

They wed on the 13th June 2015 in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends.

Sadly, at St Luke's Hospice with Tony and her family, she passed away on the 10th July. Just 27 days after their wedding.

Tony struggled through each day. Just when he felt he couldn't feel any lower Tony received the diagnosis that he had Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis weeks after the passing of his wife.

Thank you so much, even for reading this.
