"Just Suppose", 16th November 8pm, University Arms

Recommended Posts

The subject of the next Sheffield Humanist Society meeting will be "Just Suppose" with Mike Lawrence

Mike Lawrence will explore the links between mythology, primitive astronomy/astrology and modern day religion. The purpose is not to discredit the benefit many people gain from following a theological belief, but to provoke lively debate on the future role of religion in the public realm of politics and education given theology’s demonstrably fictitious foundation.

Mike has given this talk to Humanists and Secular societies across the UK with really good receptions. It promises to be a thought provoking look at the conflict between the myth of "Jesus Christ" and the historic reality. This is a talk for anyone with an interest in the history of religion and the origins of Christianity.

The meeting will start at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday 16th November at the University Arms, 197 Brook Hill, Sheffield, S3 7HG

The University Arms is close to the tram, get off at the Sheffield University stop, and several buses pass nearby including 51 & 52, stopping almost next to the pub, with 94, 95 & 123 a short walk away. Parking is available in the streets behind the pub.
