The location Sandbeck Park is the home of SAFE@LAST patron the Earl of Scarbrough, whose family has lived on the 5,000 acre estate since the 16th Century. Richard Lumley, the 4th Earl of Scarbrough, employed the distuingished architect James Paine to build the elegant mansion between 1765 and 1768, after the original hall was demolished. It is regarded as one of his most dramatic creations. The 4th Earl also employed Lancelot 'Capability' Brown to do the landscaping around Sandbeck in the late 1760s. Apparently Capability Brown undertook to do the work "with poet's feeling and painter's eye." On-site services and facilities Food, drinks and merchandise available throughout the day.
