alchresearch   214 #5 Posted January 5, 2018 Chromecast is OK, but very limited. You might be better spending a bit more and getting an Android box like a T96, or even an older T95 or M8s+.  I got mine from this Ebay seller:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/air.digital/m.html?_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=
 Share this content via...
tzijlstra   11 #6 Posted January 5, 2018 Another Chromecast vote from me, although I agree with Alch that the Android TV options are more interesting for those that want more.  We've just got an Android TV enabled Sony and it is a joy to use. the_bloke   17 #7 Posted January 5, 2018 Another vote for Chromecast here. It's seamless with Youtube as it is with a lot of other apps, such as my favourite, Plex. I still don't see the point in a Smart TV, it'll be obselete and unsupported long before a thirty quid Chromecast.
 Share this content via...

I still don't see the point in a Smart TV, it'll be obselete and unsupported long before a thirty quid Chromecast.  I agree about smart TV's although I have just bought a 4K one I prefer to use an Android quad core M8+ TV box which now can be bought for around the same price or cheaper than Chromecast. It is much more versatile and has its own remote. I'm not up on Chromecast but thought it was to cast and stream media from a PC, tablet or mobile to the TV? alchresearch   214 #9 Posted January 6, 2018 the OP stated very clearly they wanted to watch youtube etc its not even slightly limited. it the very best tool for that job.  No, they said "youtube and other things on the tv".  Other things can therefore include Kodi, Terrarium, and plenty of free freeview or other TV apps which the limited Chromecast can't do.
