Boeing in Sheffield

Recommended Posts

Pity we haven't an airport to fly the components in and out of.

Even if we did it would likely be too expensive to do so. Rolls Royce in Derby for instance who send regular shipments of aircraft engines to Seattle don't touch East Midlands Airport unless an engine is needed urgently, they instead go via road to Glasgow Prestwick where they're taken to the US on scheduled cargo flights and the remainder of the way again by road. The actuators that are to be made in Sheffield are small enough to loaded onto a palette and sent a similar way.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport already a large cargo business, including the use

of the giant Antonov 225 cargo aircraft.

DHL used the airport recently for flights to USA for 7 weeks. Whilst East Midland Airport

runway was out of action for runway resurfacing

Presumably then, you will be providing a list of all companies working in the steel industry in South Yorkshire, and their recruitment plans, to back up your statements.

Forgemasters is absolutely up a creek without a paddle. They are only still around because they are strategic to the new Dreadnought class submarines. This is just one example and this more than enough offsets anything Boeing is giving us.

When I saw the thread title I thought it was about the Magic Roundabout, and Zebedee had moved to Sheffield

Ditto Airbus on the Chester / Wales border. They even have an airport but ship things by barge.

Should be Boeing in Rotherham, as its at the AMRC.

AMP1 Rotherham side - Mclaren is in the very far corner just next to that Lane that comes down from Handsworth to the railway line

AMP2 Sheffield side. - New Boeing, factory 2050 etc

It's a weird boundary. On days I come back along Europa I actually cycle NW away from Sheffield to get back into it.

Now, why on earth did they do all this development without having proper transport links back to the city and its parent University It's begging out for Supetram, or even just a slight change to the 52 route to bring in Waverly estate .

HE degree apprentices are back now. We had to arrange coaches to get them to the University for registration day. FE apprentices back next week so parking chaos time is back for another year.
