Watch out when walking the Dearne

Recommended Posts

Calling all walkers and locals to keep a watch out for reptiles when walking in the Dearne/lower Don valley. I am currently carrying out reptile surveys on behalf of the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership, and we are trying to fill in the knowledge gaps about what reptiles people see when out and about in the Dearne/Don valley, woods, quarries, spoil heaps - that type of thing. Already, we are compiling a lot of records, but I'm sure many of you must see snakes and occasional lizards whilst out walking, possibly in previously unknown locations. It would be good to re-discover the slow worm colonies that used to occur in the Conisbrough/Cadeby area..... even better if you have photographs of them.
