Breaking news: BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-40952224 reports that she stepped-down "due to an extremely poor choice of words".

She had written in a newspaper column (The Sun) that Britain had a problem with Pakistani men raping and exploiting white girls She was of course elected as Rotherham's MP in the middle of the previous Parliament when the 'grooming' scandal was first publicised by Andrew Norfolk of The Times.

Odd how 'mis-speaking' often happens to Labour's Shadow Cabinet. Diane Abbott, for instance.

Isn't that a requisite of being a politician, regardless of party

Cant get my head round why she should resign. Being a Rotherham MP, should she not be part of the conversation surrounding this whole issue ?

What has she said that is not true, not that I would defend any Politician.

Nobody should be afraid to tell the truth. I've got a lot of respect for Champion and what she said was correct

She has been silenced for speaking the truth.

Why did Corbyn ask her to make an apology.? For what, telling the truth?
This country has gone crazy, too much PC.

And she knew it too !
She said after her quote 'there, ive said it' - then apologises and resigns.
She should have stood by her words, therefore opening up the 'uncomfortable conversation - that needs to be had !

I agree. She should have stood behind the words she used.

Everything has to be sugar coated nowadays, been like it for years. We live in a society full of mard arses, and it isn't going to go away.
