While I'm quite prepared to believe you did indeed find a dead wasp in your kitchen (and our thoughts are with the Vespidae family at this sad time), you may understand that I'm a bit more sceptical about what you claim it was wearing at the time of it's demise.

Wasps (fluffy or otherwise) are not known for their sartorial elegance and tend to favour the standard black/yellow onesie combo that most other invertebrates would not be seen dead in.

But if we are to believe your rather outlandish claims then there can only be one logical explanation...

... It was obviously on it's way home from a fancy dress party at Area Fifty One and a Half and succumbed to the effects of one too many amber nectars.

thanks for your explanation mr.bloke, but i"ve been doing some research of my own..i placed the wasp in a urine bottle container, and took it to sheffield lane top w.m.c. where a contingent of rocket scientists, surgeons, professors, and many effluent people drink at dinner, even a david attenborough look a like...on close inspection a horticulturist (who knows nowt about gardens but plenty about wasps) informed me it looked like a giant mexican dandy wasp which have been sighted in various locations in britain...i thanked him and bought him the obligatory pint..with the information i had obtained i came to a rather disturbing theory..

now that donald trump has become the next president of the usa, he his threatening to build a wall between mexico and the usa, this will have the effect of preventing any invading wasps entering america..will they turn there antennas elswhere, could it be ,and i dont want to cause panic.could they have alcoblog in there sights.
imagine millions of the critters descending on area 51 and a half...could this be the demise of alcoblog..i know its a bit far fetched, but you never know.

It's an interesting theory, but given it's specialised dietary requirements I can't see the Mexican Dandy wasp surviving for very long at Area Fifty One and a Half...

... although it would explain recent sightings of Mr Alco in Asda with a shopping trolley full of tequila and microwavable tortillas.

I take it they are not partial to Fray Bentos pies then?

weird things happening again today, upside down rainbow spotted over area 51 and half, resembling a big grin...now i note that alcoblog started his quest way back in may 2011,and the latest count of wasps is 6 one with a damaged hind leg....got to admit not good.

is it possible that the wasps are actually mocking alcoblog...have a plague, wearing multi colour t shirts formed this phenomenon...it does seem to back up my theory of an imminent invasion.

Hmmm...

I suppose it's a possibility that they're being attracted by the comforting aroma of a Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie gently wafting it's way across Area Fifty One and a Half...

... but if that's the case then these are not Mexican Dandy wasps as earlier thought, but the more common British Gerroffme wasp which is usually found in a pub beer garden quietly enjoying the remains of a pub lunch and a swig or two of real ale.

the british gerroffme wasp is nothing more than a small parasite with annoying tendencies with little or no intelligence..as you say it spends most of its life around beer gardens and m"kays scottish strawberry jam jars, its of very little threat to area 51 and a half....

climate change is attracting lots of foreign visitors to our shores,as is the weak pound, japanese hogweed and american crayfish are terrorising our rivers and lakes, giant spiders are becoming more common, huge rats becoming more resistant to poison, the list is endless (more info can be obtained in the tap room of sheff lane top wmc costing little more than the customary pint) ...

back to the mexican dandy wasp.its been reported in the mexican daily star that swarms have been seen snorkelling around the gulf of mexico pestering locals and holiday makers alike, giving them a painful nip in the buttock..bars in mexico have had to remove all seating, leaving standing room only.

ok, is this waspish behaviour just a bit of fun, or is it more sinister, could it be a training excercise to enable them to hitch a ride on the gulf stream up to the west coast of scotland where they could stealthily disembark at killmarnock..having completed the first part of their mission what next..

they could set about wiping out the midge population building up there strength and resources for the next phase, they will then mobilise and proceed south moving ever closer to area 51 and a half. during there journey they will be having fun, mating that sort of thing ooo err..by the time they reach area 51 and a half there numbers will have increased to biblical proportions..

dont forget there allies, the african mugabee locust and the german u wasp may also get involved..its a scenario that could happen,so im telling alcoblog to remain vigilant at all times.
