Millinery Taster Session: Kanzashi Flower Corsages as part of Sheffield Food Festival

 

Sunday 25th May 10.00 to 12.00

 

 

Join our guest milliner,Sue Carter to create a beautiful fabric flower corsage.

 

Kanzashi are hair ornaments used in traditional Japanese hairstyles, however, the term has become widely used for the technique used to make these folded flowers.

 

All materials will be included and only basic sewing skills are required.

 

NB: For fabric hoarders, this is an amazing way to stash-bust! So if you would like to bring your own fabric, please do feel free.

all our workshops (there are another 2 advertised on here) will be for a maximum of 10 people.

 

as for the skill levels required, it is aimed at those with no to no sewing experience. if you can cut a straight line with some scissors and we can teach you to do a few stitches, you will be able to make these flowers :)

our workshop leader Sue Carter is not only a milliner but also a millinery tutor at Leeds College of Art. She also runs workshops at her studio at Radiant Works in Huddersfield, so she has plenty of teaching experience. you can find out more about Sue here
