hitsville round the corner from the old firestation on division st, spin city on the gallery, play it again sam records (down abbeydale road?)

amazing records on cambridge st

2 bradleys records...fargate and down chapel walk?

virgin bottom of the high st

 

that small one just inside an alley on the high st just up from the crazy daisy

It just goes to show what memories people have, I remember most of the places mentioned, but only because I've seen them in print, Violet Mays was fab though.

I am sure that there was one on the right hand side of Dixon Lane as you were going downhill. I'd always thought it was Canns but aparently not. I know someone will know.

As I remember, Canns is the only record shop which fits that description.

"Phillip Cann, The Music Man" occupied the premises in Chapel Walk which later became Vallances and Bradleys. Cann's had listening booths where you could go and listen to your '45' before purchase. If you liked it you just took your 4s.6d. to the cash desk.

I also bought 45's at W.H.Curtis at Moorhead, before AND after redevelopment and also at Sine Electric in Broomhill and Musgraves in Dronfield.

Yes - in the basement. Cann's was at No 2 Dixon Lane until they moved to Chapel Walk in c. 1960. Edited by hillsbro
