Jeffrey Shaw   90 #194 Posted May 29, 2018 Do you think North Korea having nuclear weapons is a good thing ? Please don't go off on a tangent , its a simple question There is a major difference between USA and NK, of course. One is not: a. a threat to the world's peace; and b. threatening to use its nuclear weapons on the other.
 Share this content via...
Mikes10 Â Â 10 #195 Posted May 29, 2018 I realise this is a little off topic but... Â On BBC Radio 4 Extra there is a programme called Radiolab, it is an American public radio programme. A recent production ( that is recent to the UK ) deals with the launching of an ICBM and the safeguards. Â There is also a discussion on how much Harry S Trueman knew about the nuclear weapons and the orders given for their use on Japan. It is well worth a listen. Jeffrey Shaw   90 #197 Posted May 30, 2018 and only one has previously used theirs on a country in the world True. Without those two uses, maybe there wouldn't now be any world at all...
 Share this content via...
Anna B Â Â 1,401 #198 Posted June 12, 2018 Who'd have thought it? Â Trump and Kim Jong-Un have signed a denuclearisation treaty. Whether it will hold only time will tell, but nobody can deny that Trump has achieved something other politicians could not. Â Is it because his style cuts through the <removed> and doesn't waste time on nicities and faffing around like other politicians? Â Could we learn something from it? Â Our whole political system works so grindingly slow. In a world that is moving so fast these days, is that good enough?
 Share this content via...

In a world that is moving so fast these days, is that good enough?  I think it's probably less due to Trumps negotiating and more to the fact that the NK economy is about to implode. Trump just happend to be the right guy in the right place at the right time which is how so many things fall of course. Let's just hope both sides keep to what is a rather wooly at the moment agreement and then they can build a proper accord on that.  As you say though - it won't happen quickly. Calahonda   11 #202 Posted June 12, 2018 The difference between Obama and Trump is that Obama was scared to try whilst Trump was scared not to. Give me a businessman every time, they don’t know the meaning of political manoeuvring.
 Share this content via...

He's also sealed an agreement in less than 24 hours. Hats off to him.  We seem to have an army of men in grey suits keeping themselves in a job by endlessly procrastinating and delaying as long as possible. They should watch and learn...
