I know these are terrible pictures but can anyone help identify this bird? I have never seen this before in my garden. It is about the size of a large Blackbird to medium Wood Pigeon. It had no obvious colour markings mainly black, grey and white in colour. It had some ruffle type feathers around it's head base and a Chaffinch style head (ish)

It's a Jay..

Not a good photo tbh.. there is slight bit of bright light blue on their wings too..

They are a member of the crow family.

Looks like a jay to me, seen a few today in the trees round the Northern General hospital.

Yep! It's a Jay. A member of the crow family. But has a distinctive plaintive cry - a reight racket tbh!
