Areas to avoid - are they really as bad as people say?

Recommended Posts

As title says.. Are they really that bad? Shootings all the time etc?

Where would my best bet for renting be?

Mostly west and south side?

South/West is the most affluent area of the city but it all depends on your requirements.

No point in paying a premium if you don't want or need.

Are they really as bad as people claim? With a few exceptions, no.

Just thought that myself mate..

Look, I'm looking at a 1 bedroom flat in a decent area around 700 quid. Loads on Rightmove I can see for the areas in West and South. Just simply asking which are the areas just not to got to.. haha

Anywhere where single bed flats cost as much as that will be a decent area.

You could easily get a 3 bed house for 700/month in perfectly nice areas.

Serious mate?? So it's really not expensive is it?

I hought being 5th largest city or whatever it is would make the prices a little expensive.. but a 3 bed for 700.... that's nothing!

Look at this map and zoom in on Sheffield. It ranks small collections of streets in terms of "deprivation" - based on crime levels, education levels of the people who live there, income, etc. Anywhere that is white/light yellow is not deprived. Anywhere that is turning orange, red or purple has high levels of deprivation. Basically, the south west quarter of Sheffield is the best place to be in those terms (with a few exceptions).
