ANGELFIRE1   10 #133 Posted October 13, 2018 Looking back on this thread from 4 years ago, I can now feel a shift going the vegetarian way Just going round supermarkets recently the once little corner of the shelf with the vegetarian stuff tucked away has now become big news The quorn range is now quite large and to be honest though expensive is quite delicious And the supermarkets are doing their own ranges so it’s certainly catching on There is still some way to go but I can feel this way of eating is going to get huge in the next 10 years.....hopefully Vegan restaurants are also becoming more popular Looking forward to it to be honest   I have heard quorn called many things, but "quite delicious" certainly isn't one of them. You must have different taste buds to us I think, each to their own.  We tried quorn "sausages" we could not eat them, much to our amusement both our dogs would not touch them either. Suffice to say, we have never bought any quorn "meat" since.   Angel1.
 Share this content via...

Bargepole23 Â Â 337 #135 Posted October 14, 2018 the very worst fast food out of all of them is pizza. It's just a cheese and tomato sandwich with bits of things on top. It's a snack. Not a proper meal at all. Â Except it is a meal. Just different to a roast dinner, or fish and chips, or any other meal.
 Share this content via...
Waldo   96 #136 Posted October 14, 2018 Once saw a documentary where they bought chicken from various fast food outlets (the regular suspects), and tested these samples. Massive quantities of, I think, sugar and salt. Other (cheaper than chicken) protiens were present, in some cases you're getting less than 50% chicken. Turned out, the poorest quality of the bunch was from Subway. It's formed 'chicken' and they post process it stamping on fake grill marks. Flexo   10 #137 Posted October 14, 2018 Has anyone tried the vegan pie shop on Abbeydale Rd, located between the Broadfield pub and Swifties?  https://www.facebook.com/314-The-Vegan-Pi-Company-479125559232930/  Vegans seem to like it but can the pies tempt me away from the meaty ones made by Pie Eyed and Kevins Pies? Some people have many more taste buds in their mouths than others, and spread out differently, so are able to discern flavours in a different way. Who'd 'av thought it..? blake   10 #141 Posted October 17, 2018  These outlets (McD, KFC, Pizza Hut etc.) are definitely not cheap.  they are not cheap for the food but the way they market is that they always include a drink with the price of the main selling meals. It is alright if you want a coffee with the meal.  the most cost-effective 'bang for your buck' filling type meal, without a doubt, where the object is to fill your stomach for the maximum amount of time for the least amount of money, is the Chinese Special Fried Rice. It is only £4.50 from takeaways on the estates and it is a big filling meal. They are not tight with the portions. Health wise it is not the absolute best because it doesn't have enough vegetables. Although it is not the worst. Fish and Chips isn't that great, even with peas which puts the price up. Pizza is the worst and also the worst value for money. Kebabs are the best health wise although big ones cost more than Chinese Special Fried Rice.
 Share this content via...
