NEW WALKERS WELCOME

 

Description

 

This is a relatively easy going 4.5 mile walk, taking us us roughly 2 hours. It takes in the Shirebrook valley nature reserve - Linley Bank meadow - Beighton Marsh and then back to Shirebrook Valley. The terrain is easy going, tracks , bridal ways, fields and footpaths, with the odd small hill

Start time: 6:50pm

 

Meeting point: Shirebrook Valley Nature Reserve, Visitors Centre Car Park, Stone Lane, Woodhouse, Sheffield, S13 7BR

 

Refreshments: We will find a local pub

 

Parking: Shirebrook Valley nature reserve car park, Stone Lane, Woodhouse, Sheffield, S13 7BR

 

Public Transport: Bus 123 leaves Walkley at 5:30pm or Sheffield Interchange at 5:58pm, arriving at Woodhouse at 6:32pm. You need to get off the bus at the Coidsley Hill bus stop as the bus leaves the mosborough Parkway before it reaches Woodhouse. This leaves you a short walk down Stone LAne to the Car Park.

Additional information:

 

To find the car park, turn onto Stone Lane (Woodhouse weat primary schools palying field is on thel eft). The lane also has Trans Pennine Trail and Visitor facility signs at the junction. Follow Stone Lane ( a bumpy tarmac road) for about 1/4 mile. There is a brick dust car park on your right. The visitors cente is about 50 metres down the path leading from the car park.

 

Anyone who is able to offer lifts, could they put this in their post, passengers please note that the driver may wish to join the rest of the group for a drink after the walk, so please have this mind thanks

 

Importamt:

 

Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink for the duration of the walk...

Are these walks still happening? This reserve is a great place to amble around o a nice day.
