Burglars won't leave us alone

Recommended Posts

They've knocked on our door 5 times since August pretending to be milkmen, council guys etc .

They normally call when I'm not in but other family members are.

The cops won't do anything.

Our house is not secured. No alarms, weak doors. What should I do?

Perhaps time to invest in some of those features.

You could also try getting a fake alarm/camera type thing if cost is an issue:-

I would imagine they're pretty effective unless you can tell they're fake. The one's I've seen looked pretty real to me though.

Have they actually stolen anything?

Until they are in a position to be charged with committing a crime what exactly do you expect the cops to do??

Milkmen and Council men knocking on a door is not illegal. If you are so concerned as to their authenticity and your weak security, as others have said, time to get some of those features strengthened.

You have a long list of options of which having varying costs:

Fit proper secure snap proof locks.

Get an alarm.

Get a dog.

Get CCTV - real or fake anything is better than nothing.

Get a beware of the dog sign.

Be vigilant.

Don't leave doors unlocked or windows open.

Get sharks with lasers.

Buy a baseball bat . ( although you should buy the ball as well so you have a valid reason for having it in the house ;) )

Have they actually stolen anything?

Everytime someone knocks on your door take your phone with your camera app open.

If you dont recognise them then take their picture. And let them know why you are taking their picture.

They will soon get the message.

By all means buy a dog but don't buy a 'beware of the dog' sign if you have a dog Apparently, you are admitting you have a dangerous dog and if a burglar gets bitten you can be held responsible

I find answering the door with a flaccid appendage is enough to secure my property.
