Someone on Facebook (who did the recce run) was suggesting moving the start further down the main path, so starting closer to the lakes. By the time it gets to the sharp bend that goes downhill behind the cafe, it will hopefully have thined out by then?

So maybe that's a solution, I don't know; am sure whatever they come up with it'll be an improvement! :)

Stat of the week - parkrun barcode number 5 Million has been issued.

There has been some shenanigans over a false profile getting it*. Therefore, HQ have withdrawn the profile and re-issued it to a bone-fide applicant.

*Below is a link to the podcast "with me now".

A good listen with lots of parkrun debate including Runny McRunface (*see above), prison parkruns, the place of the faster runner in parkrun and much more.

parkrun Peniston ?

There is a try out run from the Skate Park at 8:30 on 13th October to guage local interest. Details are sketchy at the moment but the Trans Pennine Trail is tipped as the probable route.

A less than clement forecast and cool conditions for parkrun’s 14th birthday saw a lower attendance than has been recently experienced.

There were 47/47 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region (first full complement since launch of Cliffe Castle).

Of 46 runs completed both last week and this, seven had higher attendances and 39 were lower.

Total attendance was 9474, a decrease of 1957 (17.1%) from the previous week.

Total attendance was the lowest since the start of the school summer holidays and the second lowest since Easter. It was, however, still marginally above the 12 month average.

There were 165 runners at both Nostell and Skipton, 134 at Cleethorpes and Dalby Forest and 55 at Middleton Woods and Sheffield Castle.

The average weekly attendance over the last 12 months has increased by 8% (8725 to 9413). The mean attendance per parkrun per week over the history of parkrun for the region is 200.7; the median is 161.

High attendance (again!) for Remembrance weekend.

There were 48/48 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region.

Of 47 runs completed both last week and this, 31 had higher attendances and 16 were lower.

Total attendance was 12012, an increase of 564 (4.9%) from the previous week. This is the third highest regional attendance ever (453 below record set on 13 Jan).

Myrtle parkrun beat its inaugural attendance with 338.

There were 395 runners at both Fountains Abbey and Roundhay, 213 at Normanby Hall and Peter Pan and 81 at Sheffield Castle and Wetherby.

The average weekly attendance over the last 12 months has increased by 8% (8837 to 9544). The mean attendance per parkrun per week over the history of parkrun for the region is 201.5; the median is 162.

A new week, a new Yorkshire & Humber region parkrun.

There were 48/49 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region (only cancellation was Rother Valley).

This week saw the launch of Potternewton, the seventh parkrun to launch in the region this year. This is the most in one calendar year since 2013 (10) and second most ever.

Of 47 runs completed both last week and this, 23 had higher attendances, 23 were lower and one (Armley (169)) was the same.

Total attendance was 11737, a decrease of 275 (2.3%) from the previous week.

Hillsborough parkrun had a new record attendance of 490.

There were 137 runners at both Cliffs Castle and Dewsbury.

Last week, I suggested today would see two major regional milestones. A miscalculation on my part meant there was just one: this year to date there have been 1959 parkrun events in the region. This is a new annual record.

The average weekly attendance over the last 12 months has increased by 8% (8902 to 9572). The mean attendance per parkrun per week over the history of parkrun for the region is 201.6; the median is 162.

The fact it was significantly warmer this Saturday than last week was perhaps the primary reason for a large increase in regional attendance.
There were 49/49 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region.
Of 48 runs completed both last week and this, 44 had higher attendances and four (Armley, Cross Flatts, New Earswick and Rotherham) were lower. (These were lower by 55, one, nine and two respectively.)
Total attendance was 10789 (an all-time December record), an increase of 2995 (38.4%) from the previous week.
There was one repeated attendances: 279 at Heslington and Rother Valley.
Armley’s attendance (65) was under 100 for the first time. Sheffield Castle’s (105) was it’s second highest ever (and above 100 for the fourth time out of 274).
The average weekly attendance over the last 12 months has increased by 11.4% (8852 to 9860). The mean attendance per parkrun per week over the history of parkrun for the region is 201.5; the median is 162.

Can we break the  Concord attendance record at Concord on Christmas Day, for a fourth year in succession?

360 25/12/2017 300 13
307 25/12/2016 259 11
253 25/12/2015 249 7
