FairDooz   10 #1 Posted January 23, 2012 Where will the answer to our present economic crisis come from?  The country seems to be tolerating the Tory/Liberal Coalition because there's no alternative.* However, does anyone really believe the coalition will do enough to stand up to the vested interests that are causing such imbalances and damage to the economy?  The Labour party are reluctant to criticise the market economy too much despite Ed's comments about predatory capitalism. They struggle to even describe themselves as socialists. Their present leader lacks credibility and there seems little prospect they'll come up with something before the next election.  So it's Vince Cable to the rescue - give shareholders the power to set Executive pay. Hmmm one small step, but in itself not enough to rebuild a fair and dynamic modern industrial economy. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/jan/23/vince-cable-shareholders-executive-pay  Should we be pessimistic about anyone coming up with any ideas soon? Do we just need to accept a lost decade (or 2?) like Japan ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Decade_(Japan) ) while we ease up on the borrowing and pay for previous excesses (the "debt-fuelled boom").  Or are there ideas and organisations outside the mainstream that are about to burst onto the scene and save the day?  Who will give us jobs for the youngsters, pensions for the old, equal opportunities and fair pay for all?  Who's about to burst onto the scene and tell us about their dream of how things can be different?  C'mon, there's a bright spark in the country somewhere isn't there?  * Well not "Occupy" obviously, but they're hardly mainstream despite claiming to be the "99%"
 Share this content via...
