go to Wales and watch them on their native turf instead.

Watch out for the sheep though. Wales is full of sheep. And the Welshies, it's full of them too

Is that because they are only playing arena tours and not a proper tour. If that's the case I don't blame them from missing Sheffield Arena out as it is appalling for music and completely unsuitable.

Sheffield is always the last resort for bands as we don't have good venues, same with top shops see the lists of other citys and you will find ours is normally after they run out of citys and towns.

how much does it cost to see a decent band play live?

Because I guarantee it'll be too expensive for a Sheffielder

I wouldn't agree. I'd argue they're at least the most talented band to come from the Land of the Taffs since, ooh, I don't know, Manic Street Preachers and, er, who else, Catatonia ?

Na'chy! (As they say it over there; dunno how it's spelt though )

Also omitted from most comedians' tours (Count Arthur Strong, Dominic Holland, Mark Watson, etc.)

Bands/artists don't always pick and choose where to go.

It's more to do with bad venues having bad booking managers.

Mark Watson didn't do a very good job of missing Sheffield.
I saw him at the Leadmill in June.

As for Count Arthur Strong, we can only count our blessings.

Most bands miss put sheffield now. Arena tours from kasabian, liam gallagher, stereophonics all announced in recent weeks. No sheffield dates. So few bands choose to play here now. It's turning into a ghost town for live music. Given the sizr of the city, it's weird how forgotten it is.

---------- Post added 25-09-2017 at 12:13 ----------

Big Noel Gallagher Arena Tour announced. Yet again, no Sheffield date.

Sun 22 April 2018 Brighton, Brighton Centre
Tue 24 April 2018 Glasgow, The SSE Hydro
Wed 25 April 2018 Aberdeen, BHGE Arena
Fri 27 April 2018 London, The SSE Arena Wembley
Mon 30 April 2018 Nottingham, Motorpoint Arena
Tue 1 May 2018 Birmingham, Birmingham Arena
Thu 3 May 2018 Newcastle, Metro Radio Arena
Fri 4 May 2018 Manchester, Manchester Arena
Sun 6 May 2018 Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena
Mon 7 May 2018 Leeds, First Direct Arena
Wed 9 May 2018 Belfast, The SSE Arena
Thu 10 May 2018 Dublin, 3Arena

Why has the city become somewhere to avoid for touring bands? Seriously? I know people so "no it hasn't" etc, but a look at the amount of bands playing in the city now compared to 10 years ago puts that argument to bed. I'm sick of travelling to Leeds/Manchester/Nottingham all the time, so now just don't really go to concerts, which is really sad. It's now a place to skip and I'm intrigued as to why. It has a big student population, it's a big city- what has gone wrong?
