Dan_Ashcroft 10 #63 Posted September 24, 2017 When was it rejected I hadn’t heard that? About 2008: http://www.thestar.co.uk/business/visionaries-building-the-man-of-steel-1-6767218 “People kept saying; That could be the next Angel Of The North. So I took the idea to Paul Scriven, then leader of Sheffield City Council,” says Steve. “Sadly the council didn’t see my vision and felt any creation to mark a gateway to the region should be that of a celebrity name.”
 Share this content via...

Nice bloke, good idea, shame it never happened.
 Share this content via...
Dan_Ashcroft 10 #67 Posted September 25, 2017 The Man Of Steel is still happening. It's just being built in the next field along, and is being supported by Rotherham Council instead. It's due to be built between 2018-19 http://www.yorkshiremanofsteel.com/
 Share this content via...
