Which was the best pub that closed in Sheffield and why?

The Magnet and the Five Arches, also the Shiregreen Hotel when Derek Darby had it :hihi:

And the Sportsman in Stannington when Phil had it.. Before it was full of Chavs, and were thus forced to get rid of the Pool table :(

Is the Market Tavern still open?

No - The Market Tavern

I'd suggest the Mad House (Hallamshire, top of Lydgate Lane) though

Gossips at Arundel Gate, on the corner, near Berlins.

Gossips was ok but not a pub. The nosh that was served to gain an extension was a bit iffy if you happned to be sober. :hihi:

Indeed, thing is though, I used to go there for lunch back when I was at Loxley College (cos I got the runs once from eating dodgy sausages from the College canteen! :loopy: ), but the service was always better in the Robin Hood back then, I mean OK it took twice as long to get there (I was a slow walker), but like I said, the chip butties were better, the Beer was cheaper, and the service was better and not full of students.
