Contacting the Council

Hi All

Great forum and i hate to be using my first post as a help post but i am looking at a point of contact who i can speak to about making a claim on a road thats caused damage to my car

I believe its Sheffield Council but it could be Rotherham, its the B6200 Retford road

Ring Council X up, you can find their phone number on Google. If it isnt their road, you then ring Council Y up.

However you won't have much joy if either council can prove the road has been inspected within the timescales allowed by law, and that any reported damage has been fixed in a timely manner.

Retford Road is Sheffield upto around the River Rother bridge.

Did you read my post? If they prove they have inspected the road within the timescales set by law and that any holes in the road they were told about were fixed, you will find it very hard to get any money out of them.

Sorry Emma, i did, however this wasnt a hole in the road, this was a damaged road sign that has been knocked over, debris was scatted on the road and the post was sticking out off the pavement

The obvious question you're going to be asked is, - how did it damage your car?

Spoke to the council yesterday, they send out a pack which I have to fill in and return with pictures etc. They then pass this on to Amey who manage the highways
