New USB flash drive

I have bought a new usb flash drive, when I plug it in it asks me to format it. I click format , it then tells me windows cannot format it. Please what is wrong

It may be faulty.. if it asks to format, then wont..

Try in another port, otherwise I would return it..

Now sorted Thankyou. I restarted my computer and tried it again and it works,don’t understand why but it does. Happy new year to all

Try blowing the USB ports, could be dusty and a bad connection.

Or because it is new, Windows needed to install drivers which then requires a restart. Always happens to me at work when new USB stick inserted.

Not had that since XP, needing a reboot for plugging in a USB drive/stick
