DerbyTup   10 #14 Posted January 11, 2018 Lowes abbeydale road Or carracks at crookes  I don't know the one at Crookes. Wrong side of town for me. But Lowes on Abbeydale Road I've found to be very good and I think it's important that folks support these small local businesses, otherwise they'll all go to the wall eventually and then we'll all be driving out to some big megastore in the middle of nowhere to buy stuff we could have got on our doorstep. Lex Luthor   10 #15 Posted January 16, 2018 Are they still trading? I drove past the other day and the shop looked empty. They may just have been re-decorating over the New Year of course. Not in Sheffield at the moment, so I can't check myself.  Apparently not, sorry.  ---------- Post added 16-01-2018 at 05:20 ----------  Yes Stokes shop on Abbeydale Rd closed down the week before Christmas. There are 2 or 3 other specialist paint stores on Abbeydale Rd. 2 Dulux decorating centres either end of the city centre. Also one or 2 crown and Leyland trade stores near to the city centre.  Good heavens. First Bardwells, now Stokes. What's happening?! I can't cope!
