I have just found out that there is a public house on Ecclesall Road called The Porter Brook. I couldn't place this at all and I knew Ecclesall Road very well for a large part of my life. How long has it been there and what was this building before? It can't have been there and I just never saw it surely.

It was an electrical contractors premises before they turned it into a pub.

Hi melv,

Do you have any idea when that happened? It must have been during the last 20 years, do you think?

Just asking, but this is not to be confused with the Porter Cottage on Sharrow Vale Rd is it. Sorry but years since I was in that area.

I was trying to think when I first went there, and it was definitely longer than 15 years ago.

I cheated (don't like doing that) but a website, says opened in the 1990s as Hogshead. I'd say later than 95 though (from a single memory)

Thank you all for your help and your memories. I left in 1995 and I feel sure that it must have been after that that the Porter Brook came into being. You've all helped me understand what happened.
