Monaco Grand Prix..any one been

Recommended Posts

Isn't it supposed to be cheaper to fly to Belgium for the Grand Prix than it is to buy a ticket for Silverstone?

Maybe, but I don't think it's easily accessible, and I'm told the campsite is quite far away meaning either long walks or expensive taxis/buses that will charge a lot given demand.

Shame, but still one of the top of list of venues I would want to go to if I had the money.

I've been to Silverstone and naturally everything is a long walk anyway at race meetings, but at least Silverstone camp site is next door, and amazing, I might add.

Monza, Monaco, Suzuka and Belgium would be my first choices to go to.

Despite some negative posts, I hope you enjoy it. Monaco isn't like any other racing circuit. Even with **** views, you can say you've been there and enjoyed it, which I reckon you will.

definately not a trip of lifetime on a budget.

Utter rubbish.

Other than the ultra-rich that you are thinking about who go there to drink Champagne and get photographed with some other ultra-rich person drinking the same, and in many cases probably have no idea about the skill and precision involved - everyone is always on a budget with anything, and you make the best of what you have.

I know people who have had trips of a lifetime on a budget of practically nothing.

I have booked for this once in a life time trip for 2015 and wondered if anyone has been or if not has anyone been to Monaco itself.

I will be there for about 3 days and wondered if anyone has any info where the beach is, where Monte Carlo is (Is it the same place) and any thing else interesting to do while I am there.

To be honest might only have the Friday spare but any info would be helpfull.

have been a few times but not on race week, everything doubles in price pretty much and getting a table in a restaurant is a no no apparently, the last time i went was the week before the GP very relaxed some lovely places to eat and drink, the restaurant on the right as you the track climbs up from the start to casino square is very good, great seafood and pizzas.

its worth staying outside Monaco and getting the train in much cheaper. if you hire a car you can drive the track but not on race week.

Buy a state of the art TV and watch it at home, unless you have big bucks, or won a front row ticket with spending money and hotel. I went in the 90's..Panis won it I think. Spent a few days in Nice down the coast after which was more memorable  It's like trying to find a hotel when a NFL final is on in the US, unless well pre booked which is almost impossible.

Consider commuting 30 miles a day (inland) and your living costs will reduce dramatically.

To be honest I know some are recommending other tracks but the truth being I'm not a formula ! fan infact I never watch it but Monaco is different because of the obvious and I have always wanted to visit that race.

Regarding restaurants i'm not that fussed about eating in any of them, a couple of sarnies and a can of beer will do me whilest i'm there.

I'm not interested in hobknobing with the rich I just wanna soak up the atmosphere of the race and the town.

As for hotel I think ours is in Italy so we will no doubt be commuting to and from Monaco which might not be a bad thing

It's a bit like bungie jumping. You can listen to all the folk who waven't tried it but know that it is rubbish, or you can try it for yourself and experience the thrill.

I have no idea why anyone is mentioning restaurant prices. Who eats at restaurants when they go to a grand prix? Probably the ones who just watch them on the box.

Watched this rubbish on Sunday, F1 Monaco Grand Prix "Race". Race, it would have been a better idea to sit in the coal place and count the lumps of coal. I think a "race" is only held there so the rich and "famous" can wander around showing off their vast wealth. Even Hamilton labelled it as a procession. It is easy to prove that it is a follow my leader track, the winner lost over 100 hp, and was still able to win from half way. Would the Red Bull have been able to hold the best two drivers in the world (Hamilton & Vettel) behind him on a real race track, let's get real here, no, no chance of that happening.

We used to holiday in Nice and we sometimes went to Monaco for the day. A lovely place and there are beaches nearby although some of them can be pebble beaches as at Nice. Never been down there for the Grand Prix, but I wonder if they can charge you, because it's a street race ?

We went to Monaco a year after Prince Grace died which is long time ago. We only went for the day by train from Antibes. I guess it is still affordable for day trippers on holiday nearby.
