Cupid 10 #1 Posted January 9, 2012 Cupids in Nooses 2012 : Anti-Valentine's Festival The last 2 years have been a resounding success so we are back to offer more of the same and more of the other. WHEN Held over Anti-Valentine’s weekend Fri 10th/Sat 11th/Sun 12th February in the year 2012 at the Rude Shipyard (89 Abbeydale Rd, Sheffield) with the launch party held at Hagglers Corner (Queens Road, Sheffield). WHAT We'll be hosting live music interjected with poetry, prose and comedy. They’ll be tears in jars, broken hearts, dead flowers, fancy dress, balloons, cake, meals for one, cupids in nooses, literature and our world famous poetry competition. WHY Bored of industries commercialising love and turning our feelings into commodities, we decided to go against the grain and hang Cupid. Don't buy us flowers, cards or take us to the movies just because Interflora, Hallmark and Disney say so. We've got plenty of love and good times to give at Cupids in Nooses. Sod the schmaltz, we just want to have fun. We are combining the Anti-Valentine festivities with the launch of The Rude Shipyard Co-operative. The Rude Shipyard Crew will be taking over the place and transforming our loved cafe and bookshop into a workers co-operative. LINE UP More to be Confirmed. Keep your eyes peeled! Held at the wonderfully-eclectic bookshop & cafe,The Rude Shipyard, Sheffield, Cupids In Nooses was a lively two-day festival of live music, a poetry competition, high teas, magical interludes with a touch of burlesque thrown in for good measure. Billed as an Anti-Valentines event, there was still lashings of heart and soul going round, especially as Cupids in Nooses raised money for Sheffield Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers (CDAS) through donations. Keep on spreading the love!”
 Share this content via...
