I thought that. The article says 10,000 officers were needed on the 4 day trip.

£18m / 10k officers = £1800 each officer.

Of course there are other costs, not just wage-bill. And maybe the officers didn't get that money some will be 'admin' ......

Still, it's a big chunk of money that was found. Hopefully there'll similar found when old Mrs Smith rings up to report vandalism etc.

I don't know about tearing up the joint, the protests particularly in London were very peaceful.
