Cols   10 #1 Posted April 13, 2004 Yeah I know it's presented by the 2 most wooden people on TV but it does show useful info sometimes. Tonight it featured dialer programs that are ripping people off by dialing up premium phone line numbers without the knowledge of the computer user. First thing you know about it is when you receive a phone bill for hundreds of pounds. I've had experience of this when a neighbour asked me for help after she received a phone bill for £350. If you're on broadband it isn't an issue but if you use dial up then be careful. There are programs that will protect you such as Spybot etc (search on Google).  Col S
 Share this content via...
genesiscouch   10 #2 Posted April 13, 2004 So funny...when we first moved to Sheffield we were staying with a couple here. One day the phone bill comes in and the female half opens it...huuuuge charges on it. She freaks out and rings up Telewest, ripping them hard on why they overbilled her. This phone call goes on for a long time and the rep keeps telling her "It's an internet charge from a number you dialed...there's no way to get that charge unless you agreed to dial it". Anyways, she was really upset about this.  The funny part. She shows me the number and we look it up on the net...turns out it's a number from a porn dialer. There was a bit of scene when the male half came home....
 Share this content via...
t020 Â Â 11 #3 Posted April 13, 2004 I can't believe the deterioration of this supposedly flagship BBC programme. Every Tuesday I catch glimpses of the 2 worst presenters ever to grace the TV screen. They're wooden, their jokes drop like lead balloons, theres NO on screen chemistry or flow, and they make so many mistakes/stumbles. It really is quite hilarious, but depressing at the same time. I find I can't actually listen to whats going on because I find myself concentrating on the 2 plebs, not to mention the ridiculous, 'trendy' camera movements that make me feel I've just come off The Big One at Blackpool.
