Redmires Road - incident - 9 July 2012

Major incident on Redmires Road - Lodge moor near the new estate at the 51 bus terminus. whole road packed with fire appliances, police cars and a decontamination unit, lots of screens / tents to conceal things. Spoke to a fireman and he wouldn't say whats going on - looks very serious.

Ye, saw about 3 incident units (ambulances and fire truck) speeding past me on Halifax rd

Can I ask people to be sensitive and not make jokes about this until we know what's happened? If this turns out to be a serious incident as it sounds, then jokey comments could cause offence or upset to those involved or their families.

bomb scare I heard? but sounds unlikely

Emergency services have been dealing with an incident in the Redmires Road area of Sheffield following a report of an alleged random assault on a bus driver at approximately 5.50pm this evening (Monday, 9 July).

During the alleged assault a powder which is believed to be flour was thrown over the driver.

Police cordoned off the area so that forensic examinations could be carried out.

The driver of the bus is not believed to have suffered serious injuries but has been taken to hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Redmires Road area between 5.30pm and 6pm who saw the incident to contact 101.
