Yerman   10 #1 Posted October 5, 2009 I am interested in compiling a list of sports grounds - particularly cricket and football - which have disappeared over the last fifty years or so. No doubt there are some grounds which belonged to businesses which have subsequently closed  Those that spring readily to mind include:  King Edwards playing fields at Whiteley Wood (now given over to horses!) YMCA pitches on Crimicar Lane (altho these are now being returned to sporting use) Crookes WMC (now houses) Den Bank The ground at the junction of Dore Road and the road to Owler Bar  There must be many many more. Texas   10 #4 Posted October 5, 2009 Don't know what's on there now, but back in the 40's we'd walk to the Forum on Saturday mornings via the back of Firshill School towards Roe Woods, and the sloping ground going down to the woods proper, was the Atlas and Norfolk football pitch.
