Red Kites seen?

Recommended Posts

Chatting to a fellow walker on a Dronfield Footpaths walk today, who tells me he has spotted a couple of red kites in the area.

Anybody else seen any locally?

They're becoming very common in the areas where they were reintroduced, which were the Chilterns and around Harewood House near Leeds. I'm surprised we don't see more of them in Sheffield yet since we're not that far from Harewood.

I've seen them actually in Leeds as well, over a housing estate! Presumably they'd come from Harewood, I don't know how large their territory is.

Saw one near Wakefield a couple of years ago.

A friend of mine spotted one over Parkwood Springs a year or so ago.

My daughter lives in Pudsey and it's great to see them and quite low down too so you can see them clearly. Beautiful
