*Twinkle*   10 #1 Posted June 11, 2004 I got this email in my inbox, then panic set in! Its from a friend of mine and seems quite genuine... I've followed the instructions in the email and I had the teddy thing, so I deleted it as it said, then performed the search again and it was still there... Time and time again after I tried to delete it.... Grr! Help me!    For once this is not just a stupid forward this is completely serious my computer was infected!  Unfortunalty a virus has been passed to me through an address book virus which also infected my address book. Since you are in my address book, you will probably find it in your computer too.  The virus (called jbdg.exe or jbdgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee Antivirus. It sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by "messenger" and by address book, whether or not you sent email to your contacts.  Please do this: It is very simple to do and took me less than a minute to complete...  1. Go to Start, then click you "Find" or "Search" option.  2. In the folder option, type the name "jdbgmgr.exe"  3. Be sure to search your C Drive and All the Sub Folders and Any Other Drives you may have  4. Click "Find Now" or "Search"  5. The virus has a Teddy Bear icon with the name "Jdbgmgr.exe" DO NOT OPEN IT!!!!!!  6. Go to "Edit" (on the menu bar) and choose "Select All" to highlight the file without opening it  7. Now go to "File" (on the menu bar) and select "Delete". That will send the virus to the Recycle Bin. If you find the virus, you must contact ALL the people in your Address Book so that they may eradicate the virus from their own address book  To Do This...  1. Open a new email message.  2. Click the icon "Address Book" next to "To"  3. Highlight every name and add to "BCC"  4. Copy this message and pass the email along. This will affect Everyone in your address book, so send it!!!  Sorry for this inconvenience. Thank goodness the person infected contacted me! Tony   10 #3 Posted June 11, 2004 Don't do it caprice!  At best it's a wind up, at worst you will knacker your system.  Try an online virus check with one of the big boys if you're worried.
 Share this content via...
JoeP Â Â 11 #4 Posted June 11, 2004 Jdbgmgr.exe is part of the Java sub system on the PC that assists in the configuration and running of Java Applts and APplications that you might encounter on web pages. Â This is a 'socially engineered' virus - you propagate it by sending the e-mail! Â I use AVG from Grisoft as my anti-virus software. It seems to catch everything, costs nothing and has regular free updates. Â http://www.grisoft.com and look at the Free Edition on the left hand menu. Â I've known quite a few people who've fallen for this one. Chances are your friend is just as in the dark as you were until this thread...:-) Â I've not encountered anyone who's broken their system by deleting this file, but if you get any strange error messages you know why!
