Ontarian1981 Â Â 10 #38 Posted June 20, 2018 This thread reminds me of a road in Catcliffe before the road was raised.I am going back to the 50s and the flooding years there. Well, Orgreave Road, that led out of Catcliffe towards the coke ovens and Handsworth had about 20 houses on one side and the River Rother on the other. That small stretch, which got the brunt of the flooding, was nicknamed California and I can't think why the heck it was. Anybody know?
